All conditions have been created in Azerbaijan for campaigning for the municipal elections, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panahov said at a meeting with a delegation of the Ago monitoring group of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
The delegation of the Ago monitoring group arrived on a visit to Azerbaijan on Nov. 23. Municipal elections will be held in Azerbaijan on December 23. Election campaign of candidates will start on November 25.
According to the CEC Chairman, about 32,000 candidates have been registered. In these elections, candidates were registered from 18 political parties. In general, the candidates represent 30 political parties.
"All necessary steps will be taken to hold elections in a fair, transparent and democratic atmosphere, and the electoral rights of citizens participating in elections will be fully ensured," said Panahov.
