GUAM foreign ministers to discuss priorities for this year: secretary general

There are plans to hold the next meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Cooperation - GUAM in February in Kiev, GUAM Secretary General Valery Chechelashvili told Trend .

Everything will depend on the situation in Ukraine, on the completion of the election process in this country, forming a new government, said Chechelashvili by telephone from Kiev.
This year, Ukraine will chair GUAM, and it is expected that at the meeting in Kiev will be announced the plans of the organization for the current year, said the Secretary General.

Four post-Soviet republics; Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova, established the GUAM format in 1997 during a summit of presidents of European Union countries in Strasburg. In 1999, Uzbekistan joined this format, but after 4 years, quitted. In 2006, the first summit of this format in Kiev decided to declare GUAM an international organization with a new name: "Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM".
