Prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Cuba in the economic, humanitarian and cultural spheres will be discussed in Havana on March 3-8 as part of the third meeting of the joint commission, Cuban ambassador to Azerbaijan Marcello Caballero Torres told Trend .
The meeting will be given a new impetus to economic and trade relations, the ambassador said.

The meeting will give a new impetus to economic and trade relations, the ambassador said. According to him, for the development of bilateral relations, much has to be done in this regard. "To solve this problem, a mechanism of intergovernmental joint commission on cooperation between the two countries has been acting since 2007. Up to now, we have already held two meetings, have signed three important agreements on cooperation in culture, tourism and sports, and 10 more agreements on cooperation in such fields as energy, health, communications and agriculture are in the process of signing," the diplomat said.

Cuba is interested, the ambassador said, in equipment and machinery produced in Azerbaijan. "Currently, about 70 percent of the equipment used by Cuba in the petroleum industry is of Azerbaijani origin. We are also interested in food and agricultural products. Other possible spheres of collaboration are communication, health, the Cuban medicines," said the ambassador.

The spheres of mutual interests are enough, the ambassador said. "The most perspective in our economic relations are tourism, oil and gas and information sectors, pharmacology and health, education, sports and other spheres," said Torres.

As part of the commission meeting, Days of Culture of Azerbaijan will be held in Cuba in those days, the ambassador said.
