The law on 'Ex-president' will be submitted to the Azerbaijani parliament soon.
"The bill was prepared by the Azerbaijani presidential administration. According to the information, it will be submitted to the Parliament of the country soon",
Safa Mirzayev, head of the Parliament office, said.
Additions and changes to the Azerbaijani Constitution through a referendum held March 18, 2009, envisaged the assignment of the status of ex-president to former heads of state. A new bill must be prepared and submitted to the Parliament.
Since gaining independence, Azerbaijan was headed by Ayaz Mutalibov, Abulfaz Elchibey, Heydar Aliyev and the current President Ilham Aliyev.
