Romanian street named after Azerbaijani scientist

A central street in the Romanian city of Techirghiol was named after Azerbaijani scientist Bekir Chobanzade this week. The naming of the street was initiated by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Romania and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

A central street in the Romanian city of Techirghiol was named after Azerbaijani scientist Bekir Chobanzade this week. The naming of the street was initiated by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Romania and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

Speaking at the naming ceremony, the mayor of Techirghio spoke about the life and work of the Azerbaijani scientist. A bust of the scientist will soon be built on the same street, he said. 

Meanwhile, Ethnic Tatar, Romanian MP Aledin Amet thanked the Azerbaijani Embassy and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, adding that a central park in the Romanian town of Madzhidiyye, which is densely populated by Turks and Tatars, will also soon be named after the scientist.
