Azerbaijan will send an additional $1 million in aid to Pakistan to help the government deal with the consequences of recent heavy floods, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Trend today.
Earlier Azerbaijan sent $1 million in aid to Pakistan.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev initiated the package of extra assistance on Aug. 21.
An Azerbaijani Defense Ministry plane with humanitarian aid left for Pakistan on Aug. 27. The plane was carrying food and clothing weighing 40 tons worth 350,000 manat.
The Azerbaijani Emergency Situations Ministry will send another plane to Pakistan with aid worth over 104,000 manat later this week.
Recent floods caused large-scale damage in Pakistan. Approximately 2,000 people died and thousands more were injured. Roughly 7,000 villages were swept away by the floods. Twenty million people are now homeless as a result of the natural disaster.
