Azerbaijan, Mexico Foreign Ministers meet in New York
Azerbaijan, Baku, September 22 /Trend R.Darakhshan /
On Tuesday, Foreign Ministers Elmar Mammadyarov of Azerbaijan and Patricia Espinosa of Mexico, who are attending the 65th session of the UN General Assembly, held a bilateral meeting in New York, says a press-release sent to Trend by Azerbaijani embassy to the United Mexican States.
The sides discussed issues of developing bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Mexico in various directions. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Mammadyarov agreed to pay, at the invitation of Espinoza, an official visit to Mexico in January 2011.
Espinosa expressed her Government's gratitude to the Azerbaijani side over the opening of Azerbaijani embassy in Mexico in 2009. The Minister said that active work is underway to expand the bilateral ties between the two countries, conduct mutual visits and develop the two countries' relations.
Mexican Foreign Minister noted the importance of opening the Embassy of Mexico in Azerbaijan. According to her, the Mexican Embassy possibly will be opened in Baku during the next year .
Espinosa praised Azerbaijan's contribution to the development of mutual cultural relations and brought as an example of this the holding of Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Mexico in March this year as part of activities to mark the 200 anniversary of the Mexican independence.
Mammadyarov thanked his Mexican counterpart for the invitation to visit her country, stressed the importance of expanding political ties between the Azerbaijan and Mexico and fruitful cooperation within international organizations.
During the talks the sides exchanged views on important regional and international issues. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Mexico Ilgar Mukhtarov.
