Majority of Azerbaijani ruling party's candidates registered by CEC

About 712 candidates were registered for the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan, the Central Election Commission (CEC) reported today.

According to the report, about 111 people from the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, among the candidates nominated by parties and blocs, were registered. 

The following parties are the next ones in the list: the electoral blocs PPFA-Musavat - 33 people, Karabakh - 32, Transformation - 31, Classic Popular Front - 30, Azerbaijani National Independence Party (ANIP) - 21, Azerbaijani Democratic World Party - 20, For the sake of person - 19, Democracy - 17, Ana Vatan, Modern Musavat Party and Initiative Group - 7 candidates, Azerbaijani National Democratic Party and Azerbaijani Social Democratic Party - 2, Tereggi and the National Statehood Party - 1 candidate.

The number of candidates registered by the CEC, who independently put forward their candidacy, hits 371 people.

Parliamentary elections are scheduled for Nov. 7. Previous legislative elections were held in November 2005. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 electoral constituencies.
