Azerbaijan carries out educational activities for young people voting for first time

The Azerbaijani Youth and Sports Ministry has prepared a special action plan to ensure the youth's active participation in the elections. This action plan was implemented under the theme "The youth vote for the future", the ministry reported.

The Azerbaijani Youth and Sports Ministry has prepared a special action plan to ensure the youth's active participation in the elections. This action plan was implemented under the theme "The youth vote for the future", the ministry reported.

The informational seminars were organized for young people in more than 60 regions and cities in September and November, and the youth were provided with information about the electoral law, voting procedures on the election day, determination of the name in the voters list, study of information about individuals, whose candidates were registered and etc. The seminars were attended by Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Intigam Babayev and a number of senior officials, representatives of constituencies, members of youth organizations, young activists and intellectuals.

There were distributed memo "The parliament - the legislature," published by the ministry. The memo provided information about the history of elections, National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the Azerbaijani parliament, the legislative basis of the parliamentary elections and other information.

In addition, the bracelets reflecting the election mottos were distributed among 100,000 young people who will vote for the first time.

The parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are scheduled for November 7, 2010. Previous parliamentary elections were held in November 2005. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies.
