Musavat members resign. It is an indicator of new trends in the party, deputy chairman on political affairs in the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party, Nureddin Mammadli, told Trend.
"Such resignation in Musavat Party is a specific indicator of certain trends for all opposition. In any case, we support the union," he said.
Sulheddin Akbar and Ibrahim Ibrahimli resigned due to the differences of antagonistic opinion within the party.
Sulheddin Akbar, chairman of the majlis of the Musavat Party and Ibrahim Ibrahimli, member of the party resigned Nov. 29. Akbar explained this step as disagreement with the strategic course of the party. Ibrahim Ibrahimli cited as evidence the fact that the party leadership does not trust him.
He said that time will show whether there are those opposing unification within the party. The union is a social order. I would not want to lose faith in the fact that these processes will have a normal outcome," Mammadov said.
Musavat head Isa Gambar proposed to unite the parties following the course of Rasulzadeh-Elchibey on July 15 at the 21st anniversary event of the Popular Front of Azerbaijan. The Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan reacted first to the proposal.

The party was re-launched Nov. 7, 1992. Isa Gambar was elected chief of the party. A former parliamentary speaker, Gambar ran in the 2003 presidential elections. The party has four MPs in parliament.
