Georgia, Tbilisi, Dec.22 / Trend N. Kirtskhalia /

The leader of the opposition party "Our Georgia - Free Democrats," Irakli Alasania condemned the Georgian opposition leader Nino Burjanadze and Zurab Noghaideli's participation at the opening ceremony of an analogue to Kutaisi's "Memorial of Glory" on Poklonnaya Hill in Moscow.

"The destruction of the "Memorial of Glory" in Kutaisi was an unjustified arbitrary act for the Georgian Government and an insult to the memory of those hundreds of thousands of compatriots killed in the fight against fascism. But what happened in Moscow is an insult to the Georgian public," Alasania said on the air of the "Kavkasia" television company.

The leader of the Free Democrats believes that, after an aggressive war in August, which killed hundreds of people and in which tens of thousands became refugees, the ceremonial opening of the memorial is a mockery of the Georgian public, and Georgian representatives' participation in it - a shame.

Alasania feels assured that the conditions for the normalization of Georgian-Russian relations in the future are in place, but that it will not happen in this manner.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on Tuesday met with the leader of the Georgian opposition movement "United Georgia," Nino Burjanadze, who participated in the opening on Poklonnaya Hill in Moscow. "We were all together in the fight against fascism" - an analogue to Kutaisi's "Memorial of Glory," RIA Novosti reported.

Russia and Georgia have no diplomatic relations. Such relations were broken by Tbilisi after Moscow's recognition of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

Military actions were launceh in the unrecognized republic of South Ossetia in August 2008. Georgian troops entered Tskhinvali, with Russian troops later occupying the city. Russian armed forces drove the Georgian military back into Georgia proper. Russia recognized the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia on Aug. 26 and, established diplomatic ties with the de facto states on Sept. 9, 2008.
