The Azerbaijani Parliament approved the agreement on security cooperation in the Caspian Sea at the first meeting of the spring session on Tuesday.

This agreement is an important step in determining the status of the Caspian Sea, MP Aydin Mirzazade said.

The main point of the agreement is that the status of the Caspian Sea was determined only by Caspian littoral countries.

The Joint Declaration of the Presidents of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan was approved at the meeting of the Azerbaijani Parliament.

The agreement on security cooperation in the Caspian Sea was signed on Nov. 18, 2010 in Baku.

Also Azerbaijani Parliament on Tuesday approved agreements on exemption of visa requirements for persons with diplomatic and service passports between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Italy, on cancellation of visas for persons with diplomatic and service passports between Azerbaijan and Montenegro, on cancellation of visas for persons with diplomatic and service passports between Azerbaijan Republic and Portugal," on cooperation in the field of civil defense and emergency situations prevention between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan", the Convention on the privileges and immunities of the representatives of the Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, its composition and members of the Conference. Parliament also approved the composition of the discipline and accounts commissions.
