Kyrgyzstan and Turkey will continue to cooperate and develop bilateral relations, reads a joint statement issued after bilateral talks in Bishkek on Wednesday by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Kyrgyz PM Almazbek Atambayev.

"The parties essentially confirm the general intention to continue a close and constructive political dialogue and promote brotherly relations for the benefit of both peoples," the statement reads.

Kyrgyzstan and Turkey expressed their commitment to strengthening and deepening bilateral relations, which are foreign policy priorities for the two countries.

Following the talks, the Kyrgyz side expressed its appreciation to Turkey for supporting the Kyrgyz people, and, in particular, for providing humanitarian assistance after the April and June events in 2010 in Kyrgyzstan.

The two sides also stressed the importance of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, the attraction of Turkish investments to give an impetus to developing the Kyrgyz economy and the establishment of further cooperation to promote Turkish investments in industrial sectors.
