The President of Malta was invited to Azerbaijan

Azerbaijani ambassador to Italy and to Malta Vagif Sadigov handed over his credentials to President of the Republic of Malta George Abela on Thursday. During his meeting with President, Sadigov conveyed him the greetings and invitation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to visit the country, Azerbaijani Embassy told Trend.

Azerbaijani ambassador to Italy and to Malta Vagif Sadigov handed over his credentials to President of the Republic of Malta George Abela on Thursday. During his meeting with President, Sadigov conveyed him the greetings and invitation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to visit the country, Azerbaijani Embassy told Trend.

The Ambassador spoke about Azerbaijan, its foreign policy, economic achievements and regional role.

Speaking about bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Malta, Sadigov pointed out the ongoing cooperation between the countries. Also the Ambassador noted the great potential for deepening bilateral ties in all fields, including economic, political, tourism and culture.

According to Sadigov, expected visit of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malta, Tonio Borg in Azerbaijan, will promote development of relations between the countries.

Later, Sadigov, informed the President about the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the existing situation in the negotiation process. The Ambassador noted with regret that the negotiations had no results yet, and part of Azerbaijani territory was still under Armenian occupation.

President Abela thanked President Aliyev for invitation to visit Baku and said that Malta attaches great importance to cooperation with Azerbaijan.

President Abela confirmed the presence of rich potential for cooperation in many spheres, particularly in information technology, trade, health, education and others. He noted the importance of accelerating the work on the implementation of joint projects to encourage greater development of bilateral relations.
