Uzbek President Islam Karimov and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev held a telephone conversation on Tuesday, the Kremlin said.

"The presidents discussed issues of bilateral cooperation and appreciated the achieved level of its development, primarily in the trade and economic spheres," the report said.
During the conversation views were exchanged on international issues in detail. Special attention was paid to developments in North Africa, the Middle East and the Persian Gulf, as well as their possible impact on the situation in other regions of the world.

In addition, President Medvedev and Karimov discussed specific aspects of the situation in the Central Asian region.

According to the report, the sides agreed to continue consultations in various formats - both bilaterally and multilaterally, including within the CSTO.
