Romanian President Traian Basescu will launch an official visit to Azerbaijan on Monday, the Romanian President's official website reported.
Basescu will be on the visit to Azerbaijan until April 19, upon President Ilham Aliyev's invitation.
During the visit, Mr. Basescu is expected to meet with President Aliyev, Prime Minister Artur Rasizade and Parliamentary Speaker Ogtay Asadov.
Romania officially recognized Azerbaijan's independence on Dec. 11, 1991.
The diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Romania were established on June 21, 1992. The countries have opened embassies in their capitals. To date, the two countries have signed more than fifty treaties.
Based on the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee's data, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $ 177.2 million.
