The Georgian Defense Ministry continues its preparations for a military parade in honor of the Independence Day.
The ministry reported that no changes made in the preparation plans and the parade will be held on May 26, Defense Ministry's Spokesman Salome Makharadze told Trend. She commented on the opposition's intention to disrupt the parade.
The Council of the People's Assembly of Georgia has decided to prevent the holding of the military parade in honor of Day on May 26, Democratic Movement leader Nino Burjanadze said earlier. The opposition supporters will move from the Kostava Street to Liberty Square at 12 pm on May 25 and will not allow authorities to hold a parade on May 26.
The Georgian party plans to launch rallies and change President Mikheil Saakashvili's regime on May 25- the "Day of Wrath" announced by the opposition.
Georgia holds the military parade in honor of the Independence Day each year. Only in 2009, the parade was not held, as the opposition blocked the city center for two months.
