The Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA) will establish a Center for Research on Energy and Environment, ADA Rector Hafiz Pashayev told reporters.
The center is expected to open simultaneously with the state oil company by late 2011, he said.
"Serious and modern research should be conducted in Azerbaijan's energy policy, so that it may assist our future policy," Pashayev said.
The Center will conduct research in the energy sector, and publish scientific papers and books.
Today, a conference devoted to energy issues will be held as part of the ADA summer school. The conference, with 41 participants from 17 countries, will discuss the situation in the region in terms of energy and its development prospects.
