Voter turnout hits 18.83 percent in Azerbaijani municipal elections as of 3:00 pm

As of 3:00 pm, voter turnout in repeated, additional and new municipal elections in Azerbaijan hits 18.83 percent (217,681 voters), director of the Information Center at the Azerbaijani Central Elections Commission Ramil Huseynov said.

As of 3:00 pm, voter turnout in repeated, additional and new municipal elections in Azerbaijan hits 18.83 percent (217,681 voters), director of the Information Center at the Azerbaijani Central Elections Commission Ramil Huseynov said.

"Taking into account that these elections are repeated, additional and new, voter turnout can be considered as satisfactory," Huseynov said.

He said that the CEC has not received any complaints via "hotline".
Voting in repeated, additional and new municipal elections started Wednesday at 08:00 am.

About 1,550 candidates for 464 vacant seats were registered in 330 municipalities. There are approximately four candidates for each vacant seat.

Candidates from nine political parties - Yeni Azerbaijan Party, Ana Veten Party, Social Prosperity Party, Civil Solidarity Party, Popular Front of Integrated Azerbaijan, Great Creation Parties, Democratic Reforms Party, and Civil Unity Party are running for the elections.

709 candidates are not members of any party.

About 9923 people were registered as observers. About 1,155,864 voters will be able to take part in the elections.

The CEC will provide information regarding voting process at 5:00 and 7:00 as well.
