Azerbaijani President inspects Juma Mosque after major overhaul (PHOTO)

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today visited the newly-rebuilt Juma mosque as part of his Salyan trip.
The Head of State was informed about the reconstruction work in the mosque.
President Ilham Aliyev saw the stand featuring the previous and present look of the mosque.
The Head of State viewed the archeological finds from the Babazanan mountain including various implements, adornments etc.
The mosque was built in 1865. As It was severely affected by the flooding of the Kur river, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism began rebuilding work here, which was completed in June last year. The drainage system was installed to protect from underground waters.
The Juma Mosque has been protected by the state since 2001 as the historical monument of local importance.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed satisfaction with the work done here.
