U.S. Experts train Georgian specialists to search radiation sources

Georgia, Tbilisi, April, 30 /Trend N.Kirtzkhalia/

Training courses on finding orphan radiation sources and security will be held in Batumi from April 30 to May 4.

Trainings are conducted under the auspices of the Global Threat Reduction Initiative of U.S. Department of Energy (GTRI).

Employees of the Department of Emergency Situations of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Center of Radiation Technology and Safety, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Adjara and Poti office of the Department of Nuclear and Radiation Safety of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Georgia are participating in the training session.

The aim of study is to introduce the latest methods of finding orphan radiation sources and the principles of modern dosimeters.

American experts lead the courses. Two day seminars will be held in Anaseuli village as part of the training session. In addition, the U.S. side will pass modern dosimeters to Georgian counterparts.
