Regular talks between U.S. and Azerbaijan on security issues was held In Washington. During the dialogue the United States highly appreciated Azerbaijan's contribution to the fight against international terrorism, especially in international peacekeeping operations in Afghanistan, Azerbaijani Embassy in the United States reported.

The sides welcomed the current level of bilateral security cooperation, and agreed on the importance of further developing this cooperation.

The delegations discussed the US-Azerbaijani security cooperation, including energy security, maritime security, border security in the area of ​​practical cooperation, cooperation within international organizations in Afghanistan, regional security and other issues of mutual interest.
