President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva have attended the "Day of Azerbaijan" on the sidelines of the London Summer Olympic Games.
President Ilham Aliyev made a speech at the event.
The venue, where the "Day of Azerbaijan" was held, was decorated with photo stands and video clips featuring Azerbaijan`s culture and history of sport, and highlighting the government`s care for sport in the country, President Ilham Aliyev`s meetings with athletes and opening ceremonies of Olympic and sport complexes in Azerbaijan.
During the meetings with President Ilham Aliyev, officials and representatives of the international sport community hailed the attention to sport in Azerbaijan.
They praised Azerbaijan`s sport achievements, and noted the country was becoming more powerful and economically developed. They said these achievements opened new opportunities for Azerbaijan to be known as a sport country on a global scale.
The ceremony saw President Ilham Aliyev meet Azerbaijani athletes and wish them successes.
