Georgian president to discuss transition period problems with EU representatives

Georgia has held democratic parliamentary elections on October 1, the count of votes has to be implemented in the same democratic way, the representatives of EU and diplomatic corps stated on Thursday during the meeting with Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili, Georgian presidential administration reported.

Georgia has held democratic parliamentary elections on October 1, the count of votes has to be implemented in the same democratic way, the representatives of EU and diplomatic corps stated on Thursday during the meeting with Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili, Georgian presidential administration reported.

The head of EU mission to Georgia Philip Dimitrov, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Philip Lefort and head of EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia, Andrzej Tishkevich took part in the meeting.

They emphasized that elections in Georgia have been completed in democratic way, which proves Georgia's way to construction of democratic state. According to EU representatives, Georgian people were able to freely express their will and make a choice, government has confirmed their devotion to democratic ideals, freedom and European values.

The guests noted the importance of providing proper operation of election administration, which should not be pressurized by any political powers. They stressed the importance of constitutional transfer of power.

Georgian state minister on issues of European integrations Tornike Gordadze participated in the meeting.
