Researcher at the Institute of Literature of the National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Khalida Ismailova (Khalida Khalid) and her driver Shamhal Huseynov detained in Iran have not yet been transferred to the Consulate General, the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Tabriz said on Monday.
According to the statement, efforts in this direction are on-going and periodic negotiations are held on the transfer of the detainees to the Azerbaijani side.
It should be noted that the researcher of the Institute of Literature named after Nizami, the scientist-orientalist Khalid Khalid and her assistant Shamhal Huseynov was arrested on April 30 in Tabriz, employees of the Ministry of information security and intelligence agencies of Iran, Iranian media reported earlier.
Azerbaijan has sent two notes to the Iranian Foreign Ministry in connection with the detention of its citizens.
