Italy is interested in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan, the newly appointed ambassador of Italy to Azerbaijan Giampaolo Cutillo said on Tuesday at a meeting with Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov.
The Foreign Minister congratulated Cutillo on his appointment as the ambassador to Azerbaijan and wished him success in his future activities, the press service of Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry told Trend.
Mammadyarov said that Italy is Azerbaijan's main trade partner, and expressed his confidence that the new ambassador will make a significant contribution to the development of relations between the two countries.
Cutillo expressed satisfaction with his appointment as Italy's ambassador to Azerbaijan.
The ambassador also added that during his diplomatic activity in Azerbaijan he will work to expand relationships between the two states.
