The foreign ministers of GUAM will hear a report from the Permanent Representatives to the United Nations on work done on the nomination of the resolution on protracted conflicts.

"The next meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of "The Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM "will be held on September 26 in New York," GUAM Secretary General Valery Chechelashvili told Trend on Friday.

"At the meeting, the GUAM Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs will hear the report of the Permanent Representatives member countries at the United Nations on work done on the nomination of the resolution" On Protracted conflicts in the GUAM area and their implications for international peace and security, " he said.

According to him, the text of the draft resolution is to be agreed upon by the countries of the organization in consultation with the partner countries, in support of which the organization relies on during the nomination of the resolution to a vote at the General Assembly of the UN.

"At this stage, our permanent representatives to the UN are actively working with different groups of countries. After the ministers hear their report, they will draw up their recommendations accordingly, as this document is one of the most important components of our cooperation in the field of political cooperation," the diplomat said.

According to Chechelashvili, now Georgia,the Permanent Representative to the UN, currently chairing the GUAM, is organizing a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of GUAM. Not only a meeting of the Council of Ministers is planned, but also meetings in the format of "GUAM +" will be held, the Secretary General stressed.

GUAM was established by several post-Soviet countries in 1997 during the EU presidential summit in Strasbourg. In 1999, Uzbekistan joined the organization and left four years later. A decision was made to rename GUAM 'The Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM', at the body's first summit in Kiev in 2006.
