Defense Minister of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov met with the staff of the Air Force of Azerbaijan and Turkey, which took part in joint military exercises.
Hasanov and senior staff of the Ministry arrived at the military airfield Sept.19, where large-scale military exercises are carried out, the Defense Ministry said.
Defense Minister met with flight and maintenance personnel who took part in the exercises, conducted an inspection of combat aircraft and inquired on the level of training of fire systems.
The representative of the Azerbaijani Air Force colonel Elchin Ahundov and a representative of the Turkish Air Force colonel Nihat Chirakoglu held a briefing about the combat readiness of military personnel, aircraft operations and their application.
The Defense Minister, noting the importance of military exercises, said that this event is a historic one, which reaffirms the idea of the national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev "Two states - one nation."
The Defense Minister also thanked the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his support and assistance in the conduct of joint military exercises.
"The purpose of the Armed Forces of each country is peace in the region, and we must support each other. Our success and strength depends on our unity," said the Minister, thanking all who participated in the organization and conduct of military exercises.
The exercises continue.
