The EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn's visit will be important in the development of bilateral relations, the head of the EU delegation to Azerbaijan Malena Mard told reporters.
She was commenting on Hahn's visit to Baku.
Mard said that Hahn will hold several meetings in various fields in Baku.
Hahn intends to visit Azerbaijan in April before the Eastern Partnership Summit. Eastern Partnership Summit will be held in Riga on May 21 - 22.
Eastern Partnership is a project of the European Union. Its main goal is to develop the EU integration relations with Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Moldova, Armenia, Georgia and Belarus.
The European Parliament approved the new composition of the European Commission in October. Hahn has replaced Štefan Füle at this post since November 1.
