By Seba Aghayeva - Trend:

The name of the Serbian journalist has been excluded from the list of undesirable people of the Azerbaijani foreign ministry.

Serbian journalist Slobodan Samardzija was included in the list of undesirable people of the Azerbaijani foreign ministry in connection with his illegal visit to the territories of Azerbaijan in March occupied by Armenia.

Samardzija has appealed to the Azerbaijani foreign ministry with a request to exclude his name from the list.

In his letter, the journalist expressed regret in connection with his illegal visit, noting that the visit took place at the insistence of the Armenian side.

Samardzija also stressed that he respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

After considering Samardzija's appeal, his name was excluded from the list of undesirable people.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations. Armenia has not yet implemented the UN Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
