All conditions created in Azerbaijan for referendum

Azerbaijan has all conditions and democratic environment for organizing the upcoming referendum at a high level and its free, fair and transparent conduct, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan Mazahir Panahov said.
He made the remarks in Baku Sept. 21 at the meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the US to Azerbaijan Robert Cekuta, the CEC told Trend.
Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev earlier signed a decree to hold a referendum on making amendments to the country’s constitution Sept. 26, 2016.
Cekuta expressed satisfaction with close cooperation of the US Embassy with the CEC, expressed gratitude to Panahov and inquired about the work done in preparation for the referendum to be held Sept. 26.
Panahov said that the CEC is always open to cooperation with international organizations, and these relations play an important role in further improvement of the election and referendum practice, its successes and in the fact that this practice has reached the current level.
Panahov spoke about large-scale projects implemented in order to better ensure Azerbaijan’s electoral law, the principles of activity of election commissions and the rights of the country’s citizens to participate in the referendum in connection with the upcoming national voting.
Panahov and Cekuta also exchanged views on possible prospects of cooperation between the structures in different areas and issues of mutual interest.
