The summit of heads of the Caspian littoral states may take place in the second half of this year, Kazakh Foreign Minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov said, Sputnik Kazakhstan news agency reported.
“At the summit, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkmenistan and Iran plan to adopt a convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea,” he noted. “At the meeting of foreign ministers of the Caspian littoral states in Moscow last December, we agreed upon the preliminary text of this convention.”
He added that all the sides of the document are expected to complete the intergovernmental procedures, and after that, a specific date for holding the summit will be determined.
“But, most likely, these procedures will take several months,” the minister said.
