Baku, Azerbaijan, May 31

By Elchin Mehdiyev - Trend:

Illegal financing of the Azerbaijani popular front Party (PNFA) from abroad should not go unpunished, member of the Milli Mejlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan Hikmet Babaoglu told Trend May 31.

The Azerbaijani MP noted that, quite serious accusations that create legal responsibility are mentioned in the information of law enforcement agencies, distributed in recent days regarding the Chairman of the APFP and his activities.

"Azerbaijan is a legal state, and the legal side of this issue should be resolved within this framework. But if we consider that Ali Kerimli and the radical marginal group in his environment claim to political power in Azerbaijan, then this issue should not be limited to the legal area, and their activities should be condemned using the means that influence public opinion. Because in this particular case, this group, along with its radicalism, is also a serious manipulator in financial matters," Babaoglu said.

The Azerbaijani MP stressed that in no case should Azerbaijan and its independence, the interests of the people become a testing ground for the interests and intrigues of foreign states.

"The Azerbaijani public is sufficiently informed about the structure called the "National Council" and the events around it, and the Pro-Armenian centers in Russia and anti-Azerbaijani forces are behind this project. It is enough to watch the film "Caucasian trio", shot by Rustam Ibrahimbekov, who was planned to be nominated at the presidential elections in 2013 as a single candidate, to see what the goals of this "Council" and its creators are. The goal is to bring the national traitors to political power, and then to solve the Nagorno-Karabakh problem in favor of the Armenians and to destroy the Azerbaijani state. Knowing this, Azerbaijan's society at every elections adequately reacts to Ali Kerimli and groups around him," the Azerbaijani MP said.

In conclusion, Babaoglu added that this destructive and dangerous group has no authority that can have an impact on social and political life.

"But the criminal actions committed by them should not go unpunished," the Azerbaijani MP said.
