BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 30. Representatives of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan (customs attachés) will now carry out their duties as part of the diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan accredited in the foreign states or international organizations to which they are appointed, Trend reports.
This change is outlined in an amendment made by President Ilham Aliyev to the decree “On the appointment of representatives of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan (customs attachés) in foreign states and the provision of their activity”.
According to the decree, the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan will submit proposals for the appointment of its representatives in foreign states and international organizations to the President of Azerbaijan for approval. This process will occur after coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, following the decree.
The representatives of the State Customs Committee in foreign states and international organizations will perform their functions within the diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan accredited in these foreign states or international organizations. Their activities will be coordinated with those of the diplomatic missions.
Previously, representatives of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan in foreign states were seconded to the embassies of Azerbaijan in these foreign states without being included in the structure or staff schedule of these embassies.
