President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev received the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) monitoring committee chairman, Giorgi Frunda on 5 July, Trend reports.
Having underlined the significance of holding the monitoring committee sitting in Baku, Aliyev noted, that the event allowed the European Parliamentarians to see the situations in Azerbaijan with their own eyes.
The head of the state stressed, that with the goal of democratization the society, the country’s leadership has undertaken a number of important moves. Ilham Aliyev appreciated highly the PACE decision to recognize the fact of Armenia’s aggression against Azerbaijan, having underlined the importance of taking similar moves by other international organizations.
Giorgi Frunda noted, in his turn, that during the visit he held a number of meetings with representatives of political parties, non-governmental organizations and mass media.
During the meeting exchange of opinions on various issues of cooperation between Azerbaijan and PACE took place.
