UKRAINIAN DIPLOMAT SEES NO GROUND TO RESENT ON HIM

“I did not say that the current Azerbaijani opposition is weak or strong. The embassy cannot interfere the pre-elections campaign or give preference to any of the sides,” Igor Kezim, the charge d’afires of Ukraine in Azerbaijan, told Trend.

He was commenting on reports on resentment of the political parties entering Azadlyg elections bloc in connection with his recent statement on weakness of the opposition in Azerbaijan.

According to the diplomat, in reply to question on possible export of вЂ�orange revolution’ to Azerbaijan he only tried to explain the lack of grounds for such proposals. В"If to select different phrases out of arguments and transfer the question as an assertion, then absolutely different meaning,” the diplomat underlined.

В"Ukraine, as a country belonging to a democratic community, will always support the democratic reforms in the society. So, we don’t want fall out with the opposition leader, and hope that they have no grounds to resent with the Ukrainian embassy, even in the last years the opposition parties have become active, expanded contacts with the international organization and opposition parties abroad,В" Kizim underlined.

The Ukrainian embassy is always ready to support the natural democratization of the Azerbaijani society, appreciates the role of opposition parties in the process, the charge d’affaires underlined. The forthcoming parliamentary elections will estimate the authority and activity of the opposition.

The diplomat said that the embassy was largely represented in the observation missions in the elections. He voiced his confidence that the forthcoming elections in Azerbaijan will be open, free and democratic and assert the growing rating of the opposition parties.
