The Speaker of the Azerbaijan Parliament Ogtay Asadov received today the head of the political group of the European Liberals and Democrats Alliance (ALDE) Graham Watson, the press service of the Parliament told Trend.
Ogtay Asadov touched upon the meeting held recently at Milli Mejlis with the European Commission representatives and noted that mutual visits and exchange of views give impetus to development of inter-parliamentary links.
Speaking of the goal of the visit, the ALDE head Graham Watson said, they want to know Azerbaijan better, to strengthen ties between Azerbaijan and the European Union. He said over the lines of activities in the organizations he represent.
Replying the questions asked by the guests, the Speaker said, democracy and transparency will be fully ensured at re-elections on 13 May. Required measures are taken for holding votes in line with international standards.
