Development of US-Azerbaijan co-op discussed in Washington

During the visit to Washington Araz Azimov, the Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister, held talks on the development of the US-Azerbaijani dialogue on security, Trend reports citing Tahir Karimov, the adviser on political issues of the Azerbaijani embassy in the United States.

According to the Azerbaijani diplomat, such talks are held every year. Azimov will hold talks with the representatives of Pentagon, the Department of State and US Council of National Security.

The talks focused on exchange of opinions on energy security, interrelationships between Baku and EU, cooperation under the GUAM, expansion of the Azerbaijani-US relationships in the military sector, ways for cooperation for expansion of mutual understanding in the sphere of security, Karimov noted.

A meeting with Ambassador Steven Mann, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair, is also on agenda. The Azerbaijani Deputy FM also plans to deliver a paper at the US International Studies Center.
