A composition of the Central Elections Commission (CEC) was established on the parity base in line with the Elections Code, MP Mubariz Gurbanly, the deputy executive secretary of the New Azerbaijan Party, told Trend.
Musavat, a leading opposition party, refused from dispatching its representve to the CEC grounding its decsion with non-foration of the composition this body on parity.
Gurbanly noted that the variants put forward by the opposition on the formation of the CEC were illogic. The CEC is formed through the majority in the parliament. An irregular meeting of the parliament held on 7 February approved 13 members of the CEC. Upon conduct of parliamentary elections on 13 May the rest members of the party will also be approved. This is an only fair way, Gurbanly underlined.
He also noted that the CEC was established in compliance with the Elections Code adopted on the base of recommnedations and opinisn of the international orgabnziations.
