Azerbaijan, Russia offer Iran meeting for North-South corridor Transport Ministry

Azerbaijan and Russia offered Iran to arrange a meeting to discuss the project of opening railroad communication within North-South corridor, Trend reports quoting Musa Panakhov, first deputy Transport Minister of Azerbaijan. Iranian party did not yet respond to this offer.

Panakhov cited Iranian party saying it had started constructing road Resht-Kazvin. В"Such operations still pending in Azerbaijan as there is no necessity to perform them right awayВ", - he pointed.

Russian party is now reviewing the railroad project cost. Russian experts opine that the projects part to execute in Iran (300km long railroad) is overestimated. The final cost of the project will get known upon the review completion.

Azerbaijan, Russia and Iran have established an international consortium to attract credits for this project. These credits will be repaid through transportation fees collection.
