USAID (United States Agency for International Development) will continue rendering assistance to the economic development of the south regions of Azerbaijan, Ann Ders, US Ambassador to Azerbaijan, told during the meetings held within the visit to the south regions of the country, Trend reports.
During the visit, Mrs. Ambassador visited Salyan District where she participated in the opening of an Information Resources Centre, gave computer equipment and different literature to the centre as a present. The Head of the American Diplomatic Office in Baku also visited Lankaran where she visited a boarding school, mosques, met the Head of the Executive Power of the region and MPs elected from this region. In Jalilabad District, Mrs. Ders took part in the ceremony on installation of a central barn aimed at agricultural production in the village of Geytapa of the District. The project has been financed by USAID.
Within her visit to the region, the American Ambassador also visited Massali Region. Mrs. Ders took part in the opening of projects aimed at water supplying and road building in the village of Takla of Massali District. Both of the projects are financed by USAID.
During her visit to the region, Mrs. Ders held a number of meetings with the Heads of Executive Powers of the south districts of the country, as well as representatives of NGOs, and business circles. The American Ambassador expressed an intention of the US Government to continue rendering assistance to the development of the Azerbaijani regions, as well as reducing the poverty, and opening new job places.
