Head of Azerbaijani Delegation to PACE: Azerbaijan Expects Objectivity in a Report of PACE's Co-Rapporteurs

Azerbaijan expects objectivity in a report to be prepared by Co-Rapporteurs of PACE (Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe) Tony Lloyd and Andreas Herkel, Trend reports. Sammad Seyidov, Head of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE has said today that the Co-Rapporteurs had possibility to observe the existing situation over Azerbaijan during their last visit to the country, Trend reports.

They visited the Azerbaijani regions, prisons, met officials, MPs, and could collect enough information to submit it to the Council of Europe, he said.

Preliminary discussions on this issue are expected to be held in Paris in the beginning of December, then the first version of the report will be discussed by members of the Monitoring Committee of the Council of Europe (April, 2007), and on conclusion of al that, in April, 2007, this issue will be discussed by the spring session of PACE.

Mr. Seyidov also said that some issues connected with Azerbaijan, including the situation with women in South Caucasus, as well as a report on missing persons and persons killed as a result of war are likely to be discussed during the winter's session of PACE. The fact on stability in South Caucasus is most likely to be discussed during the winter's session as well, he summarized..
