Energy Systems of Azerbaijan and Iran Begin to Work in Parallel Regime Head of Azerenerji

Azerbaijan and Iran signed a contract on work of the energy systems of the two countries in a parallel regime from 1 December 2006. It entails Azerbaijan receiving 600-700 kVt electric power monthly from Iran in the winter period when a deficit is observed, and returning it in the summer period when Iran sustains a deficit, the President of Azereneri Joint-Stock Company, Etibar Priverdiyev stated at a Press Conference on 24 November in Headquarter of New Azerbaijan Party.

The electric power will be delivered via the lines Imishli (Azerbaijan), Parsabad (Iran) and Astara (Azerbaijan) and Astara (Iran).

According to Pirverdiyev, this contract does not involve money transactions as the electric power will be returned in equal volume.
