Cost in Baku Metro is the Cheapest in the World  Baku Metro Head

The Chief of Baku Metro, Tagi Ahmadov, said on December 22 at the press-conference in headquarters of New Azerbaijan Party that from January 1, 2007, the Baku Metro will fully transfer to the card system, Trend reports. According to him, the cost of the card is AZN 2. 400,000 cards have already been delivered to the country and 200,000 more cards will be delivered in the near future. 250,000 cards have already been sold to the passengers. According to Ahmadov, presently the trip of one passenger costs 55 kopecks to the Metro, but the cost of the trip counters amounts to 5 kopecks.

It is the cheapest metro fare all over the world, he said.

Ahmadov said that in 2007, Baku Metro plans to acquire 25 new trains from Mytishin Car-Building Plant. And the interval between the trains is planned to be decreased to 80 seconds which is a standard accepted worldwide.
