Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Agayeva / Nikolay Patzkevich, the Belarusian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, stated to a news conference in Baku on 20 April that Azerbaijan and Belarus will sign an Agreement on Friendship and Co-operation.
The document will be signed during the forthcoming official visit of the Belarus President, Alexander Lukashenko, to Azerbaijan in the first half of 2007. Documents on the expansion of the legal agreement between the two countries have been prepared and it includes approximately 10 draft documents on co-operation in different spheres. The documents cover co-operation in areas such as veterinary, pension provision, banking activities, science and education.
Overall, the authorities of the two countries are developing over 20 draft documents on the expansion of cooperation in all spheres, Patzkevich noted.
Belarus regards Azerbaijan as a strategic partner and intends to develop co-operation with the economic leader of the region, the diplomat concluded.
