Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Ilhamgizi / Gudrat Hasanguliyev, the chairman of the Popular Front of Unified Azerbaijan Party (PFUAP), has stated that the party will hold a conference in the first month of 2008.
According to Hasanguliyev, the forthcoming 2008 Presidential elections and the participation of the party in the elections will be discussed at the conference.
PFUAP may take part in the Presidential elections within the framework of the Alliance of Democratic Forces bloc, where it is represented.
The bloc will be expanded and will become an election bloc by the 2008 elections. The candidates for nomination to the elections from the party should be considered.
In 2001 members of PFUAP under the leadership of Hasanguliyev separated from the party, then held their own 'uniting' conference and began laying claim to the name of Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA). By 2004 the party was known as 'united' wing of PFPA. Later the party changed its name on PFPAP. The party received State registration in 2005. Hasanguliyev is an MP of the Azerbaijani Parliament.
