Chairman of Azerbaijani Opposition Party Considers Consultative Board Negotiations as Ineffective

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / Ayaz Rustamov, the Chairman of the Azerbaijani National Independent Party (ANIP), has stated that that the negotiation process amongst several opposition parties of Azerbaijan does not satisfy him.

The consultative board of the party was established by joint participation of ANIP, the Democratic Party of Azerbaijan, Musavat Party, Taraggi Party and Eldar Namazov, the political specialist. The party holds negotiations, as well as discusses forms of cooperation. "From the first day our position has been based on the concept that all parties should leave their political interest and ambitions aside and join together in national interests. At different stages we achieved such unity, but the result was fruitless. Now we are again discussing consolidation of our forces democratically holding of forthcoming President elections in Azerbaijan and the establishment of alliance with this aim," the chairman of ANIP said.

According to Rustamov, currently, the key goal of the board is the forthcoming President elections in Azerbaijan. Rustamov added that we will know what kind of union the board will be only in Autumn.

ANIP was the first party to be registered in Azerbaijan in 1992. Etibar Mammadov was the founder and chairman of the party by 2004. Currently, Mammadov is the deputy chairman of the International Democratic Alliance.
