German and Polish fans clashed Saturday
evening in the Austrian city of Klagenfurt ahead of the Euro 2008 Group B game
Sunday between the two countries.
Tussles broke out and beer bottles were thrown in the fan zone in Klagenfurt's city centre with approximately 100 fans from each side involved in the
trouble.
Police said that seven German fans were arrested.
German police, who are also on duty in Austria with powers of arrest, worked
together with Austrian police, who divided the fans and quickly brought the
situation under control, dpa reported.
