Azerbaijani gymnast Oleg Stepko told Trend Feb. 21 that he was pleased with his results at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup in Baku.

Stepko won gold in uneven bars event, silver in vault and bronze in rings exercise at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup in Baku.

He went on to add that at the same time, there are mistakes, which should be corrected.

"This is the first start, and one can say that we have fulfilled some minimum task," he said.

"There are still a lot of starts before the Olympics, we know our mistakes, we will work to correct them and improve our results in other World Cups," Stepko said.

"I can say only one thing, one achieves exactly what one works at, what one strives for," he said. "I am pleased with my result at the moment, and at the same time I know what mistakes should be corrected. I think I was 70 percent ready for the tournament, I missed the apparatuses I was preparing for in the first place."

"Yes, I entered the finals on rings and horizontal bar, though I had to reach the finals on the floor and pommel horse exercises as well," he said. "We have competitions in Qatar in a month, and we'll try to correct all the mistakes."

The FIG World Challenge Cup in Artistic Gymnastics kicked off in Baku Feb. 19 and ended Feb. 21. As many as 45 male and 22 female gymnasts competed for medals in apparatus finals of the World Challenge Cup.
