Minister Azad Rahimov: Azerbaijan Keen to Back Chess Crown

The idea of holding a World Chess Champion match in Baku emerged immediately after the World Chess Federation FIDE changed the rules, IAA Trend repots referring to the Azerbaijan Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov`s statement on comments connected with the memorandum of holding a match between Veselin Topalov and Teymur Rajabov signed in Sofia.

According to him Azerbaijan is to take an opportunity to back the Chess Crown and do all possible to achieve this goal. There is the match financing issue, but we could solve it preliminarily by our sponsors` support. The only thing that could impede to hold the match if Veselin Topalov lost the World Chess Champion unifying match with Vladimir Kramnik which to be held in the Autumn, pointed out Mr. A. Rahimov.
